Building your business without a roadmap is risky

R Roadmap Opportunity

Listening to your customers and attracting profitable new customers will transform your business, but this is not enough. Unless you create a roadmap for success, you will likely face the following:

  • Customers are simply not becoming repeat buyers with the regularity that you would like. Employees are not providing the customer experience you envision, which is why customer loyalty is not very high.
  • Turnover of both customers and employees is costing your business a lot of money. If you knew how to calculate this cost, it would likely shock your self-confidence as a leader to the core.
  • Working extremely long hours and dealing with constant stress is getting old. You want to take an extended vacation but the company cannot survive without your active involvement. You may want to sell your company someday, but know that there is little value in a company that is so dependent on the business owner. You’ve created a highly stressful job for yourself and are looking for a way out of what can at times seem like an everlasting downward spiral!

What is the challenge you face?

Turning on an ever increasing revenue engine by attracting new customers in a sustainable manner year after year works only IF your employees are capable of consistently delivering on the promises made to your customers, thereby earning their trust on a repeatable basis. Creating a business of value comes from developing lasting relationships between customers, your employees and the company; and delivering tremendous value to all parties. Real value to a future buyer comes only when the owner has built a company that no longer needs their active involvement running the company.

Why developing a business roadmap matters to you

Developing a business building roadmap which defines the critical steps necessary to consistently and predictably grow your company with decreasing effort on your part is extremely valuable.

Not investing the time or money to do this is akin to randomly driving the streets of any major metropolitan area without the benefit of GPS. Having a clear roadmap matters and will dramatically reduce the time it takes to build a winning team of employees that create and deliver hero experiences to customers.

Ask yourself three questions:

  1. What is the value of lost future profits because your valued customers finally became dissatisfied enough to take their business elsewhere?
  2. What is the value of lost future profits because a key employee who is critical to the success of your business decides to leave to work elsewhere?
  3. What is the personal cost to you and your family of not being able to fully check out of work and take an extended vacation? You know this cost is high because discretionary time is a true measure of wealth, and not having it is negatively impacting your family and your life.
